SLT is a type of laser used in the treatment of Glaucoma. It is applied to patients whose eye pressure is not very high and glaucoma type is suitable for this procedure. It takes about 30-40 seconds per eye. Eyes are not closed after the procedure. Immediately after treatment, the patient can drive a car. The application is done while the patient is sitting on the examination chair. Since SLT does not damage the intraocular tissue, it can be repeated many times when necessary. The aim is to reduce eye pressure to reasonable levels and to reduce the number of eye drops used by the patient. Its effectiveness is low in people who have had previous cataract surgery and in young patients. The eye pressure lowering effect of SLT is caused by the expansion of the trabeculae in the eye and the increase of the fluid that creates excess pressure out of the eye through the blood vessels.
