The geoglogical wonderland – in the ancient Persian language, Cappadocia meant “land of beautiful horses”. Cappadocian region is the place where nature and history come together with the most beautiful scenes in the world. While geographic events are forming Peribacaları (fairy chimneys),traditional Cappadocian houses are carved into stones, showing the uniqueness of the region. These houses are constructed on the feet of the mountain via rocks or cut stones. In a spectacular landscape, the Göreme Valley and its surroundings contain rock-hewn sanctuaries that provide unique evidence of Byzantine art in the post -Iconoclastic period. Dwellings, troglodyte villages and underground towns – the remains of a traditional human habitat dating back to the 4th century – can also be seen there. It contains unique natural features and displays a harmonious of natural and cultural landscape elements.
